PLASTIC-FREE LUNCH DAY AND EARTH MONTH CELEBRATION

The Department of Food and Nutrition is celebrating Plastic-Free Lunch Day on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Every student that eats school lunch on Plastic-Free Lunch Day will receive a free Sprinkle Earth Cookie with their meal.

Schools are encouraged to do the following:

·   Engage with school administration, faculty, and students to have activities that promote plant-based meal choices and reduce the use of plastics.

·   Promote Plastic Free Lunch Day (Wednesday, April 17th)–school lunch menu has been planned to reduce the use of plastics as much as possible.

·   Take photos of plant-based foods and plastic-free meals to post on social media and the school website.

On Earth Day, Monday, April 22, 2024, students will be given a free bag of Sun Chips in honor of this day. The goal is to support the department’s sustainability initiatives of promoting healthy school meals and a healthy environment.
