Assistance with School Messenger

For parents to seamlessly continue receiving notifications sent via School Messenger, it is strongly recommended that they transition to signing into their parent accounts using their Apple ID or Google ID email address as former parent accounts (beginning with the letter ‘P’) will be decommissioned after January 15, 2024.  Parents signing in using an Apple ID must opt to share their email with M-DCPS as the email address connected to parents’ Apple ID or Google ID at sign in, will be the email address used for School Messenger notifications.

If a parent is not receiving emails sent via School Messenger, please take the following steps:

For Parents with Existing ‘P’ Accounts:

  • If the parent is still signing in with a ‘P’ account number, they need to transition to signing in with their Apple ID or Google ID.
    • Parents must first log into their existing parent ‘P’ account on a computer to review and, if necessary, update their email address on the Portal to match the email address of their Apple ID or Google ID.  Parents may not need to change their email address on their existing parent ‘P’ account if it is already the same email address they use as their Apple ID or Google ID.
  • Parents who forgot their former Parent Portal password will need to create a new account using the email address for their Apple ID or Google ID. The email address of their Apple ID or Google ID will be the one used for School Messenger notifications.

Parents with New Accounts:

  • If the parent has never had a parent account, the email address of their Apple ID or Google ID will be the one used for School Messenger notifications.  Parents signing in with Apple must select “Share My Email” when prompted.  See the steps at this link.  

Apple Users Only: 

  • Parents signing in with Apple must select “Share My Email” when prompted.  See the steps at this link.  This is to allow Apple to share their email address with M-DCPS.  Otherwise, M-DCPS will not receive their email address to use for School Messenger notifications.
  • If a parent is already signing in with Apple but selected “Hide My Email,” they can reset their selection by following the attached instructions from Apple.
