Join us for a series of special events that celebrate culture, creativity, and connection. First, do not miss our Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 6:00pm, featuring a story time, themed crafts, and a fun Sole Step Line dancing session led by dance instructor Ms. Curtis. Then, spice things up with our Easy Cooking Class on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 6:00pm with chef and author Lisbet Gorguis. Participants will learn simple, flavorful recipes, enjoy tastings, and take home a free cookbook. And all summer long, join us for Seniors Learn Tech presented by Tech 4 Now every Thursday at 5:00pm, where teens and seniors connect one-on-one for tech help and shared learning. Let this summer be one of celebration, skill-building, and community!

June is full of hands-on fun and creativity for kids of all ages! Join us for a vibrant art workshop with Art Playce, a special Origami Demonstration by the Morikami Museum, exciting LEGO building sessions, movie screenings, crafts, and much more. This month, teens can express themselves through art and storytelling with Picture Frame Painting, Clay Sculpting, and a special Author Spotlight featuring R.M. Romero. Take a break and treat yourself to creative, calming experiences this summer. Adults are invited to unwind and connect with others through Color and Conversation, River Rock Painting, and LEGO-Based Therapy, a hands-on, group activity that encourages relaxation and play. While our summer schedule is packed with exciting events and literacy fun, we are still offering our regular programs for all ages! Some highlights include Tales and Tails for Children, Anime Book Club for Teens, English Café for Adults, and Meditation for our Seniors. There is something for everyone all summer long! This month’s read is The Art of Being ALONE: Solitude Is My HOME, Loneliness Was My Cage by Renuka Gavrani. Our Book Club typically meets on the third Thursday of each month at 1:30pm, but due to the Library’s closure in observance of Juneteenth, we will gather the following Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the same time. In honor of Juneteenth, Teen Librarian Jo recommends This Is My America by Kim Johnson. Johnson is an award-winning author, educator, and activist. This powerful young adult novel follows Tracy, a teen fighting to prove her father’s innocence while uncovering hard truths in her Texas community.
